Selangor FC winger, Faisal Halim was officially announced as the Asian Cup tournament's Best Goal Award winner on the AFC Asia Cup social media site yesterday, earning 85% of the vote.

The goal was scored against South Korea in the last match of Group E of the Asian Cup on January 25. Faisal scored the National squad's first goal in the 51st minute, tying the game after South Korea scored in the 21st minute. The thrilling match with incessant attacks by both teams concluded with a draw 3-3.

Faisal or known as ‘Mickey’ is grateful that his first goal on the Asian level was chosen as the Best Goal of the Asian Cup 2023 in Qatar thanks to the strong support from Malaysian fans.

"First of all, I thank God for this achievement for myself, family members and Malaysian fans. This Asia Cup Best Goal Award means a lot to me and it is the biggest achievement in my career.

"To be honest, I never thought I'd be able to defeat the great names in the 2023 Asian Cup. I'd like to express my gratitude to all Malaysians and Harimau Malaya supporters who voted for me to win the Best Goal Award in this tournament. I greatly appreciate your support.

"This award is a good starting point for me to continue my football career with the club and the National team with more enthusiasm for the 2024/2025 season," said Faisal during an interview with the Selangor FC Media team.
